Whistler for the Disabled is a nonprofit community based web site created to help people with disabilities access all of Whistler's amenities.

Our primary focus is to provide access information for people with disabilities and their families so they can take part in the many recreation activities Whistler has to offer, as well as provide logistical support to local companies to increase accessibility.

The Whistler for the Disabled web site is customized for people with disabilities to access information relevant to their needs supporting Accessible Tourism for Whistler, BC. Canada.

Transportation to Whistler for the Mobility Restricted:

Resort Cabs Whistler now offers Airport Shuttle Service for the Mobility Restricted. The Accessible vans can fit up to six people with room for one wheel chair. For Whistler Village Accessible Taxi's please check out Village Access Guide.

Greyhound Canada provides the only transportation option for Wheel Chair accessible buses for Vancouver to Whistler. Each bus has access for 2 mobility restricted individuals. 48 hour reservations are required to request a wheel chair accessible bus. Be sure to get a Disability Travel Card for your travel buddy who goes for free on the bus.

Accessible Car, RV and Van Rentals from Avis Scooter and Accessible Van Rentals and from Freedom Accessible Van Rentals in Vancouver. RV Rentals in Vancouver can be found at Accessible RV Rentals. Whistler Riverside Campground is Whistler's only four season operation.

New SignsThe Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW)

(RMOW) has been busy addressing accessibility and infrastructure for the Resort. New signs for accessible routes in the village have just been added - look for them on your next visit.

A Taxi Saver Program has been created for people with disabilities to help you get around on your own.

For Disabled Parking Access, please bring your permit issued from your place of residence. The RMOW honors out of province and out of country disabled parking passes. Disabled BC residents can get parking passes from SPARC BC.

The Village I-Host program helps you find your way around and is staffed with 3 full time and 73 volunteers. As resort ambassadors, Village Host volunteers help guests with easy directions, quick answers and friendly advice.

Whistler's New Public Library opened its doors on January 26th, 2008. The new library provides a comfortable, accessible base for locals and visitors. View our Village Map!

Hugh Tollett Accessing Whistler's First Public Access Pay Phone for the Deaf and Hard of HearingTelus Full Functioning Public Access TTY Pay Phones Now Available in Whistler.

This is great news for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing visiting and living in Whistler. An outdoor TTY is now located in the Breezeway Entrance to the Village just under the Archway and off of the Taxi Loop for easy accessibility (View Map!).

A second TTY is now located in the IGA Marketplace in the Professional Building just in front of Whistler Real Estate and between the TD Bank and McDonald's. Elevator Access is located at the end of the building. (View Map).

Whistler Adaptive Sports Programs (WASP)


WASP is a nonprofit society that provides Sports & Recreational experiences for people with Disabilities year round. Trail Riders are now available to rent at WASP or you can join one of the organized `Trail Riders Days`and explore one of the many trails around Whistler, taking place this Summer or rent one on you own with some friends

WASP Programs include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and hand-cycling. Contact Chelsey Walker at 604-935-9406 or visit the WASP web site.

Opening date set for December 2008.

Whistler Blackcomb Mountains (WB) Peak to Peak Gondola will be wheelchair accessible. It is an important feature of Whistler Blackcomb’s landmark project and Canada ’s newest tourism icon, the Peak to Peak Gondola. Each Sky Cabin will be equipped with a spot for one wheelchair (except for the glass bottom cabin).
