Whistler
Recreation Centre
Whistler's
Recreation Centre has wheel chair access to the Weight
Room on the 2nd floor via an elevator located across from the Squash
Courts. The swimming pool is accessible via a chair that will lower
you into the pool (see first image below).
The Hockey Arena is limited in seating access but has ramps for
wheel chair bound spectators which is almost if not better than

Wheelchair's
on the Ice Surface are permitted as long
as the person in the wheelchair is accompanied by an adult, the
tires on the wheelchair are wiped clean prior to entering on to
the ice surface. We also encourage the participant in the wheelchair
wear a helmet, while on the ice.
Sledge's
are welcomed on the ice, at this time we do not have any to rent.
Helmets are available at no cost. For more information on Sledge

Skate
Rentals are also available at Whistler Recreation Centre at
small cost and helmet rentals are free.
Snow
Shoeing can be done at many of Whistler Public Parks but you
will have to bring your own gear and a Guide to assist you if needed.
Indoor Pool Orientation for the Visual Impaired and
Blind should include the following: overview of Pool Depth, Length,
Width of Swimming Lanes, Swimming Directions, Hot Tub, Water Fountain
and Changing Room Locations.
Weight
& Cardio Room Orientation for the Visual Impaired and Blind
should include; an overview of Weight & Cardio Training Area,
Machines Available, Changing Rooms and Water Fountain Locations.
Orientation should be available to all upon request along with General
Facilities Available such as changing rooms, washrooms and weight
room plus Pool and Skating area.
Tandem
Bike Rental - Spicy
Sports can rent you Tandem Bikes and they are located
at Various Locations in Whistler.
Please
Note that the Resort Municipality of Whistler does not
rent out bikes but can be rented at various locations in Whistler
and access is free for all trail systems run by the Resort.

Outdoor
Tennis Courts are located at the following locations and are
first come first serve basis.
Meadow Park has 2 courts located behind the Recreation
Centre.
White Gold has 1 court near the Lost Lake Trial Start.
Tapley's Farm has 2 courts located at the end of Easy
Street behind the play ground area.
Millar's Pond has 2 courts.
Emerald Park has 1 court.
Alpha Lake has 1 court.

of persons with disabilities by facilitating communication and collaboration

Whistler's
Public Parks
Whistler
has some great Public
Parks &Trails to enjoy and use at no cost.
Whistler Public Parks can be booked for activities, BAR-B-Q's &
for weddings as well.
Rainbow Park has a wheel chair access ramp into Alta Lake
that you can Roll down into for easy access. Located just next to
the Dock and Beach area.
It's safe to wheel down as it is build on a concrete platform and
has a railing to hold onto.
Lost
lake is accessible by wheel chair via the parking lot or by
local bus which runs daily through the Summer months. It has a great
little lake to swim in but does not have a wheel chair access ramp
like Rainbow Park.

Whistler's
Valley Trail
Hand
Cycles can be rented from Whistler Adaptive Sports Program and Tandem
Bike Rental locations are coming soon for the visually impaired
and blind to access the trail systems or others with balance difficulties
who need to be accompanied by a guide or friend.
If
you have your own bike and or other equipment then head to Meadow
Park Sports Centre and accessing the Valley Trail from
that point. There is free parking and the trails are flat
and paved from that location.
You will also get great views of Whistler Blackcomb from that location
as well as picnic area's and a kids outdoor playground! If the weather
turns bad then go inside the Recreation Centre and watch some hockey
or use the indoor Swimming Pool and Whistler Parks and Recreation

WAVE Accessible
Transit Buses for more information on access using
Public Transit and use it to get to the Meadow Park Sports Centre.
From that point you can Access the Valley Trail system that starts
at the end of the parking lot and head towards the rear of the building
and to the Village once you are on it.

Please be aware that the RMOW is currently working on the Trails
and they may not be Accessible to anyone heading back towards the
Village please contact the RMOW for current status and updates at

ASL (American Sign Language Interpreters) Instructors are available
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing on all Winter programs. The ASL
Instructors can speak up to 12 different Languages for Signing
which is pretty amazing.
Please
make sure to request an ASL Instructor when making a booking if
required.

can vary from from simple things as a 4 x 4 Offroad Adventure to
Bungee Jumping and Zip Treking depending on your Disability and
Abilities we try to provide as many options for you to be more active
while working with Small Business People and Tour Operators to make
them more Accessible.

- Blackcomb Mountains
Whistler-Blackcomb
Mountains has access for everyone via the Gondola in the Village.
Whistler Mountain is the only Gondola to the top of the mountain
for wheel chair guests and is almost a year round operation.
Whistler
Blackcomb are also a big part of the Whistler
Adaptive Sports Program They are currently offering
Summer Programs in skiing,
snowboarding, x-country skiing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and hand-cycling.
WASP
helps their disabled guests experience the thrill of outdoor
activity that creates a flow of adrenaline and excitement they may
not have thought possible.
All the lessons are personally designed for the individual, whatever
their ability and will greatly increase confidence, motivation and
independence. Safety, enjoyment and learning are our top priorities.

The
New Peak 2 Peak Gondola.
The
Whistler Blackcomb Mountain (WB) Peak 2 Peak Gondola is wheelchair
accessible during the Summer Months. Each cabin has one spot for
a Wheelchair except for the Glass Bottom Cabin. It is an important
feature of Whistler Blackcombs landmark project and Canadas
newest tourism icon. Visit the Official Peak

Whistler
Blackcomb Mountain Ski and Lift Tickets and Accessibility.
There
are no ticket discounts for people with disabilities. However, their
accompanying ski "buddy" can receive a free ticket. Ticket
collection must be done in person, at any outside Ticket Window
location or inside, at any Guest Relations location (open daily
from 8-5). Tickets must be collected on a daily basis.
Special
Lift Line Priority and Passes for Disabled People
If
an individual has a Disabled Skier's Association of BC membership
($40) or has a membership from another province through the
Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing area and requires assistance,
then they can get a "Buddy Pass" at no charge for that
assistant to access Whistler-Blackcomb. The individual pays full
price for their lift pass. To become a member of the Disabled Skier's
Association of BC, an individual can register online at
Disabledskiingbc.com.
Sit-skiers are permitted to use the Ski School lineups without the
need of a special pass.
No other disabled person is given priority unless they are in our
Ski School or Adaptive program. Guest Relations can produce a priority
pass, on special request, to other disabled skiers who's disability
makes it extremely difficult to stand in line. This will be assessed
on an individual basis. Please see the Guest Relations Senior Host
on duty.
The
Whistler Village Gondola is the only accessible Lift for Wheel
Chair Access from the Village to the top of the Mountains.
Guide dogs are permitted to access the Whistler Village Gondola
and to accompany any disabled person in our restaurants.

Bike Park is accessible to "Quad Mountain
Bikers" in the Summer months only please see our detailed guide
