Whistler's
Valley Trial system is relatively flat
from the Meadows Park Sports Centre to Alta Lake and back. It is
ideal for your own Bikes, Scooters, Handcycles or Wheel Chairs and
Walkers or Tandem Bikes and Mountain Bikes for easy riding abilities.

Whistler
Meadow Park Sports Centre
Has elevator access to the weight room and stretching area, located
on the 2nd floor. The entrance to the Aquatic Centre and Arena is
located on the main floor. The lap pool is accessible by a chair
lift that will assist you in getting in and out.
The Hockey Arena is limited in seating access but has ramps for
wheel chair bound spectators which is almost if not better than

Wheelchair's
on the Ice Surface are permitted as long as the person in the
wheelchair is accompanied by an adult, the tires on the wheelchair
are wiped clean prior to entering on to the ice surface. Wheelchair
participants are encouraged to wear a helmet, while on the ice.
Sledge's
are welcomed on the ice, at this time sledges are unavailable
to rent. Helmets are available at no cost. For more information

Skate
Rentals are also available at the Meadow Park Sports Centre
at small cost and helmet rentals are free.
Snow
Shoeing can be done at many of Whistler Public Parks but you
will have to bring your own gear and a Guide to assist you if needed.
Indoor
Pool Orientation for the Visual Impaired and Blind should
include the following: overview of Pool Depth, Length, Width of Swimming
Lanes, Swimming Directions, Hot Tub, Water Fountain and Changing Room
Locations.
Weight
& Cardio Room Orientation for the Visual Impaired and Blind
should include; an overview of Weight & Cardio Training Area,
Machines Available, Changing Rooms and Water Fountain Locations.
Orientation should be available to all upon request along with General
Facilities Available such as changing rooms, washrooms and weight
room plus Pool and Skating area.

note that the Resort Municipality of Whistler does not rent
out bikes. Bikes can be rented at various locations throughout Whistler,

of persons with disabilities by facilitating communication and collaboration
among organizations, agencies and individuals.
Accessible
Public Parks in Whistler "Winter".
Lost
Lake is the only Accessible Winter Park that is groomed for Nordic
Sit-Sking and Cross Country Skiing operating both during the day
and at Night. Nicklaus North trails only operates during the day
time but are also groomed.
The Lost Lake Cross Country trail system offers over 32 kilometers
of groomed and track set trails that meander through Lost Lake Park
and through the Chateau Whistler and Nicklaus North golf courses.
A cozy log hut perched on the shores of Lost Lake offers a sheltered
stop along the way. There is also an extensive network of snowshoe
trails.

Access
Whistler's
Public Parks in the "Summer".
Whistler
has some great Public
Parks & Trails to enjoy and use at no cost. They
all host beautiful views and landscaping.
Parks can be booked for activities, gatherings and weddings.
Rainbow Park has a wheelchair access ramp into Alta Lake.
The ramp is located just next to the dock and beach area' it's safe
to wheel down as the ramp is built on a concrete platform and contains
a railing for those requesting assistance.
Meadow Park is accessible to all but does not have ramp access
to the River of Golden Dreams. It is the start of the Valley Trail
System heading to Rainbow Park on a relatively flat surface that
is good for scooters and hand cycles as well as for Walkers and
kids on bikes.
Lost
lake is accessible by wheel chair via the parking lot or by
local bus which runs daily through the Summer months. It has a great
little lake to swim in but does not have a wheel chair access ramp
like Rainbow Park. Most of the surrounding trails at Lost Lake are
Dirt and not recommended for your Scooters or for Wheel Chairs or
Walkers. Although there is Public Transit Bus Shuttle Service that
takes you right to a paved path during the Summer months to access
the lake which is recommended for those types of mobility aids.
There is no Bus Transportation to Lost Lake in the Winter months.
Please
note that not all Public Transit buses are Accessible at this point
in time.
Spruce Grove is baseball central in Whistler! The park has
3 ball fields with accessible facilities for the disabled and a
snack bar which is open during ball games. The Park is fully accessible
to Wheel Chairs and Walkers as well as Scooters and a Valley Trail
system starts at the end of the Park
The
large sized parks are Rainbow Park, Lost Lake Park, and Meadow Park.
Summer
Only Outdoor Tennis Courts are located at the following locations
and are first come first serve basis.
Meadow Park has 2 courts located behind the Meadow Park
Sports Centre
White Gold has 1 court near the Lost Lake Trial Start.
Tapley's Farm has 2 courts located at the end of Easy
Street behind the play ground area.
Millar's Pond has 2 courts.
Emerald Park has 1 court.
Alpha Lake has 1 court.

Whistler's Valley Trails (Summer)
Please
note, the Valley Trail is not accessible during the Winter months
as it is not groomed or cleared of snow.
Like to try a Hand Cycle and get on the Valley Trail? Handcycles
can be rented from Whistler
Adaptive Sports Program and Tandem
Bike
Rentals
are now available from AOA Rentals for the Visually Impaired and
the Blind as well as for others to access the trail systems who
need to be accompanied by a guide or by a friend.
If
you have your own bike or other adaptive equipment, then head to
Meadow Park Sports Centre to access the flat and paved Valley Trail.
Free parking is available.
From
Meadow Park, you will enjoy the view of both Whistler and Blackcomb
Mountain, you will enjoy a variety of picnic areas, a water park
and a children's outdoor play area. If the weather turns bard, then
head inside to Meadow Parks Sports Centre, watch some hockey or
use the indoor swimming pools, hot tub & sauna, fitness centre
or enjoy a game of squash.
You
will also get great views of Whistler Blackcomb from that location
as well as picnic area's and a kids outdoor playground! If the weather
turns bad then go inside the Recreation Centre and watch some hockey
or use the indoor Swimming Pool and Whistler Parks and Recreation
Centre.
You
can also access Meadow Park via Public
Transit just ask the bus driver to let you off at
the Meadow Park Sports Centre. The Valley Trail starts at the end
of the southwest parking lot.
During
the Winter months the Valley trail is not really used as it is not
groomed for Cross Country skiing only at Lost Lake and on the Nicklaus
North Golf Course.

Two
ASL (American
Sign Language Interpreters) Instructors are available for the Deaf
and Hard of Hearing on all Winter programs. The ASL Instructors
can speak up to 12 different Languages for Signing which
is pretty amazing.
WASP
helps mobility restricted and disabled guests experience
the thrill of outdoor activity that creates a flow of adrenaline
and excitement they may not have thought possible.
All the lessons are personally designed for the individual, whatever
their ability and will greatly increase confidence, motivation and
independence. Safety, enjoyment and learning are our top priorities.
They are currently offering Summer Programs in skiing,
snowboarding, x-country alpine sit-skiing, nordic-sit-skiing, kayaking,
canoeing, hiking and hand-cycling.

Whistler
- Blackcomb Mountain Access
Whistler
Mountain is accessible to everyone via the Village
Gondola. Located just next to the Westin Hotel and across from the
Pan Pacific Hotel. Whistler Mountain is the only Gondola to the
top of the mountain for wheel chair and the mobility restricted
guest using Walkers or Aids.
No scooters are allowed in the Gondola as they cannot fit. A Wheel
Chair is located at the top of the Mountain on a first come and
first serve basis.
Blackcomb
Mountain
is accessible by either four person ski lift chair or by Gondola
which does not go to the top of the Mountain and is not wheel chair
accessible..
Whistler
Bike Park
is accessible to Quad Mountain Bikers in the Summer months only

Coming
soon to the Mountains, the PEAK TO PEAK Gondola that will
provide access to both rendezvous via the top of Whistler Mountain
and Blackcomb Mountain.
